Orom-Cross will source its power from Uganda’s national grid, which is predominantly hydroelectric, including supply from the 183MW Isimba Hydroelectric Power Station.
This materially lowers the project’s carbon intensity from day one. The Company is targeting ISO 14001 certification and is actively developing initiatives to electrify site operations, including electric light vehicles, electric loaders and exploring sub-50t electric mine trucks. Electric drying and dry tailings management are also under evaluation as part of a broader net-zero mine site ambition. This design approach positions Orom-Cross as a supplier of low-carbon natural flake graphite into global battery supply chains.
Social
Blencowe has signed a formal community agreement with local stakeholders and the project involves no displacement of local populations.
An education fund has been established to return value directly to the community, alongside the creation of long-term skilled employment opportunities as the project transitions to production.
Ongoing consultation remains a central pillar of site development. The objective is clear: deliver economic development alongside responsible resource extraction.
Governance
Blencowe Resources plc is a UK-listed company operating under London Stock Exchange rules and regulatory standards.
The partnership with the US Development Finance Corporation introduces additional scrutiny, audit requirements and compliance oversight at a Tier-One institutional level.
Orom-Cross has also achieved full accreditation under the Minerals Security Partnership, an alliance of 14 countries and the EU, reinforcing the project’s strategic importance and governance credibility.
